Xingfang receives news that Guo Yiji is seriously injured in an accident. She quicly carries Jiahao in her arms and rushes downstairs to catch a cab. At that moment, Laifa returns home looking very tired. When he notices Xingfang waiting to hail a cab, he stops the car to find out why she is going out so late in the night with Jiahao. On learning the cause, he offers to drive them to the hospital. By the time they arrive at the hospital, Guo Yiji is already dead. Guo's wife and his children are crying in the corridor. When shes sees Xingfang, she accuses her of killing her husband. Xingfang is dumbfounded when she is about to enter the ward to catch a last glimpse of Guo, Mrs Guo steps in front of her to prevent her from doing so. A nurse tries to stop them from arguing. Mrs Guo's brother and his wife also pull Mrs Guo aside. Xingfang is thus able to enter the ward. Observing the entire scene, Laifa begins to take pity on Xingfang. The following day, an obituary of Guo's death appears in the newspaper. Zheng's wife (played by Cai Pingkai) and XDimei read the news and begin to talk about Xingfang. Neither of them has a very good opinion of her. On the day of the funeral, accompanied by Laifa, Xingfang goes to the funeral parlour intending to pay her last respects to Guo. But she is prevented from entering and is mocked at by Guo's wife and her relatives. Laifa decides to speak in defence of Xingfang. It is then that the Guos stop deriding her. Laifu agrees to help A-shun with the video commercial. Finding that he needs several paintings as backdrop, he approaches Xiaomei. He asks XDiaomei to speak to her father about lending him the paintings, Though Xiaomei refuses to commit herself, she secretly calls Si-tu Yu about the request. Laifu and A-shun later visit Si-tu Yu's art gallery to collect the paintings. While there, Laifu takes a fancy to one of the landscape paintings. He asks to borrow that painting as well. Si-tu Yu is impressed with him for making a good choice. Worried that something may happen to the paintings, Si-tu Yu wants Xiaoyue to go with them while they are filming the commercials. Then when Laifu discovers he needs a female performer for his commercial, he ropes her in. Xiaoyue is pleased with the invitation while Laifu seizes the opportunity to talk to her about Xiaomei. To encourage Xiaoyue to be more active, Si-tu Yu accepts Xiuwen's suggestion by bringing Xiaoyue to the community centre one weekend. There, she makes the acquaintance of a xinyao group and her life changes as a result. Laifu begins to court Xiaomei. He invites her to a dinner but runs into a group of models at the restaurant. The models create a scene, embarrassing Laifu. Consequently, he visits Xiaomei again to apologise but the latter does not seem to mind. She even invites him to go to Marine Parade. On the day of the appointment, Laifu ensures that he is dressed in his best before he makes his way to the meeting place. Imagine his horror when he sees Xiaomei and Xiaoyue together ready to go for a picnic organised by a xinyao group ! At the gathering, one of the xinyao members, Michael (played by He Qitant), turns out to be the primary school classmate of Xiaomei. The minute Michael recognises her, he makes every effort to stay by her side. Laifu is none too pleased with this. At the beach, Xiaomei is pestered by Michael so much that she does not have a chance to be with Laifu. Laifu, on the other hand, is constantly asked by Xiaoyue to take photographs of her friends. Later, while swimming, Xiaoyue gets a cramp in her leg. Laifu goes to her rescue, and it is then that she begins to feel a flutter in her heart. Laifu returns home exhausted. His sister, Laibao, tries to get money from him but he ignores her. Laibao has no choice but to look for her elder brother at the bun shop. Laiyu is also helping out at the bun shop. As she has an appointment with David later, she asks Laibao to help her take charge of bills. Laibao grasps the chance...
